QR Code Stickers: How to Print and Use Them

By Qrenzo · 5 min read ·

QR code stickers are handy for packaging, tables, product labels and windows. A few choices make them last and scan reliably.

Choose the size

For a sticker scanned close up, about 2.5 to 4 cm wide works well. Larger stickers suit windows and tables. Read what size a QR code should be.

Choose the material

  • Matte white sticker paper for indoor use.
  • Waterproof vinyl for outdoor use, kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Avoid shiny finishes that reflect light over the code.

Create and print

  1. Make your QR code with the free QR code generator and download the PNG or PDF.
  2. Place the code at your chosen size on sticker sheets in your document or design tool.
  3. Print at 100% size and do a test print on plain paper first.

Where to stick them

  • Tables, counters and menus.
  • Packaging and product labels.
  • Windows and doors at a comfortable height.

Keep them safe

Design tips for stickers

  • Keep the code on a white background with a clear margin around it.
  • Add a short label such as “Scan for menu” so people know what it does.
  • Do not stretch the code. Keep its width and height equal.
  • Use one code per sticker and keep the design simple.

Test before you print a full sheet

Print one sticker, stick it where it will live and scan it with two phones. Check it in the real lighting, then print the rest. A quick test saves a wasted sheet of labels. Our test checklist shows what to look for.

How long do stickers last?

It depends on the material and where you use them. Indoor paper stickers can last a long time on a dry surface. Outdoor or kitchen stickers should be waterproof vinyl, and may still fade in strong sun, so check them from time to time.
