How to Set Up Your Google Business Profile

By Qrenzo · 6 min read ·

Your Google Business Profile is the listing that appears when someone searches for your business on Google Search or Google Maps. It is free, and for most local businesses it is the most important page they will ever fill in.

Step 1: Create or claim your profile

  1. Search for your business name on Google. If a listing already exists, look for the option to claim or manage it.
  2. If nothing exists, go to the Google Business Profile site and add your business.
  3. Enter your exact business name, category and address, or your service area if you travel to customers.

Step 2: Verify your business

Google asks you to verify that you really run the business before the listing is fully visible. The method offered depends on your business and can include a postcard, phone, email or video. Follow the options shown in your account.

Step 3: Fill in every section accurately

  • Choose the most accurate primary category, then add secondary categories that truly apply.
  • Add your phone number, website and opening hours, including holiday hours.
  • Write a clear description of what you offer, in plain language and without keyword stuffing.
  • List your services or products with short descriptions and prices if you can.

Step 4: Add real photos

Upload clear photos of your storefront, interior, team and work. Recent, honest photos help people recognise the place and set expectations. Avoid stock images.

Step 5: Collect and answer reviews

Reviews are a large part of how people judge a local business. Get your review link from your profile and turn it into a flyer with the Google review QR code generator. Then reply to every review.
