Verify Google Business by Phone or Email
By Qrenzo · 5 min read ·
Phone and email are two of the quicker ways to verify a Google Business Profile, because you get a code within minutes instead of waiting for a postcard. Google decides which methods it offers for your business, so check which ones you see.
How to verify by phone
- Open your Business Profile and choose the option to verify.
- Select the phone option, usually shown as a call or text, if it is offered.
- Check that the phone number is correct and can receive calls or texts.
- Enter the verification code Google sends. A voice call may read the code out.
If your number is a landline, expect an automated call rather than a text. Answer it, write down the code, and enter it right away, because codes can expire.
How to verify by email
- Choose the email option if you see it.
- Confirm the email address shown.
- Open the message from Google and enter the code or follow the link.
Check your spam and promotions folders if the email does not arrive after a few minutes, then request a new code.
Tips that save time
- Use the Google account that manages the business, and stay signed in.
- Make sure your business name, address and phone number are accurate before you start.
- Request one code at a time and use the most recent one.
If the option does not appear
Not every business is offered phone or email. Look at the other options on screen, such as video or instant verification. If a code does not arrive, read what to do when your Google Business verification code is not received. The full process is in how to verify your Google Business Profile.
A note on privacy
Google only sends verification codes to the contact details on your listing. Never share a verification code with anyone who contacts you offering to “help” verify your business. The code is for you to enter in your own profile.
